although we have an outside water container (not an aquaroll) and a pump we no longer use them or take them with us.
We just have a 5 litre water container and tap on a table in the awning.
I'm still struggling to understand the logic behind this. If you already have a water container under the sink then why not use it? Another water container simply adds to the amount of kit you have to carry and takes up room.

Enlighten me, dear leader.

Who said we have a water container under the sink? We have the facility of pumping water from an outside container of some description to the washroom sink and the kitchen sink.
If we use that facility then we have to carry a fresh water container and a grey water collection tank.

Because we use the camp site facilities for ablutions then the only water we need is for a cuppa etc. Therefore we only need to carry a 5 litre fresh water container with a tap, as we did when we were tenters.

When you put it like that, old chap, it makes sense.

So, the next question has to be, why, if it's such a sensible idea, doesn't everyone else with an external water container do the same?

I still think that the under the sink water container is the best compromise but, as some Frog bloke once said,' everyone to his goat'.

I must admit every time I look at that big container under the sink I think of all that lost space........... I remember seeing an eriba on a site somewhere that had 2 containers 1\2 that size.
Might think about a smaller one on a shelf (if I can find a good shape) so I can use the space underneath for other things.

Of course it's horses for courses but although after years of camping there were many reasons why we upgraded from a tent to an Eriba, having on board pumped water was never one of them.
However, because we had it, we didn't realise that we didn't really need it until we started to think about it a year or so ago.

For those thinking of an external supply, consider the size of the pipe joining the washroom and kitchen taps together.
I have a recently bought Triton 430 which had been converted. I think the pipe joining the two taps together is too small. There is a pressure drop across this pipe to the kitchen sink resulting in reduced flow. Another little job on the list ;)

I ran the pipes (hot and cold) around the inside of the Troll from the bathroom inlet,
through the Propex heater to the kitchen sink. with no problems at all.
The submersible pump was the Whale Premium which I think is around 12L/min

To which picture are you referring, Philip? Small yellow cap?

Sorry, I mean this yellow cap here on the end. I usually take the canister out of the cupboard and then fill from the hole where the submersible pump is. When I saw you both with the watering can with the hose it suddenly dawned on me that you may insert the hose in this end and fill in situ. Does this screw off?

Thanks for the picture, Philip.

Your caravan is later than mine, I think, and has a different water container so I'm afraid I don't know about the yellow cap.

I suppose it could be some sort of valve to allow air to enter as the water is pumped out.

Does anyone know what its function is?

Its a new one for me too, I have what I always thought was the standard container.

It appears to be the same as the one shown on P19 of the 2015 Touring brochure that Poptop320 posted recently, Nev.

Smaller than mine then at 13L , I have been keeping an eye out for a 10 L container with a big enough opening for the pump to fit in, 10 L should be ok for me and give me more room in the cupboard.

My 2012 also had a small yellow cap at the end, it also unscrewed. I have no issues when filling the container from the large hole. The only thing I can think it is for is when you use the filling spout when the container is under the sink, you will then need to unscrew the yellow cap to avoid an air lock. Automotive Leisure sell the filler spout with a long tube. If you look at their most recent news letter you can see one on the last page.

Yes, I snipped the picture from the brochure (saved me a trip to the storage depot). Mine is exactly like that.

Sorry to resurrect and old post, but..I want to fit an external socket for my water supply and am slightly confused. If I have a tap with a microswitch can I use an inlet with a pressure switch or do I have to use an inklet which uses the micro switch ?Just thinking that the pressure system would be better for the future if the microswitch failed.
