On the contrary - this was a very lucid explanation & very well received - appreciate your input!

I'll try similar very soon & report back all being well.

Talking of which, if you go onto the AL web site and look at 2nd hand vans, you may notice that the mudguards are sometimes put on in the reverse
ie wide end towards the tow bar.

Only on the 230, and that's deliberate - the fat end won't fit between the door and the wheel arch.

And on the 554 and some versions of the 550. No, not trying to be a smart a**e but I've just this minute PM'ed Chezmart about the same thing on his 550 g47p2106-Troll-amp-BMW-d.html BEFORE I read this post (how much of a coincidence is that? ). Also yesterday I posted a photo of a 554 where I noticed that they were the other way around.

Never noticed that.

I wish I had - I can't feel smug about being half right

Yes I think so. On Chezmart's 550 and probably on all newer models of Eriba they've changed the size of the locker opening to the cassette. If you look at the other photos of earlier 550's the spats are the normal way around.
On the 554 it's the door step that gets in the way. Also note that the mover fitted by Midland Motor Movers wouldn't fit behind the wheel because of the step and an underfloor waste tank???? ( perhaps he means outlet?)

The toilet cassette locker door is hinged at the bottom rather than the side. Is it still the same size?

On our Troll and it would appear some of the later models, the C2, C3 or C4 cassette is used :- C2.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

I think newer models have a "stumpier" cassette, maybe a C200 ???, hence the wider door.

Okay - update about the lamp fittings which we said we'd post.

In the end, we've not used PTFE tape or anything else sticky - simply bent the fixed sprung bit of metal (very carefully ever fearful it was going to snap - it didn't), outwards slightly. This has made a big difference & the light fitting is much snugger.

Of course, a screw either side would have been much better but at least they're not virtually falling out now. Since this home-made adjustment, we've done 700-odd miles over a variety of UK roads so I'd say it's a winner!

Thanks to all who helped us figure this out :)
