Surely the floor will have the same amount of slope no matter where you take your measurement, unless the floor has a curve.

Another tip when levelling, the further away from the axle you do it the better (front to back levelling) as everything pivots from the axle center, for side to side levelling above the axle is probably best?
This might well be the case with you, Nev, based on how much wine you've had to consume during the initial levelling up stage upon arriving on site. Or does the bear conduct this little exercise on your behalf - the wine drinking I mean - which is why we always see him flat out in a chair.

So I checked my spirit level as Hob suggested and found it was way out. We don't have an Ironmongers but we do have a good Hardware store so given Pepe Le Pew' s advice I purchased a pack of new bubbles. They're a bugger to fit and guess what? it didn't make any difference at all. Eventually however I worked out that by slightly adjusting the position of the glass tube holding the bubble I could get the level to give me a consistent reading - job done. Thank you Guys

Once a bubble has dried out, that's it.
Poof.
Metric bubbles simply won't work in an imperial level, though many think they will. You can tell who these people are because their shelves aren't straight.
It's even worse if your level is a hand-me-down from your granddad. Mine is, and not only is it an imperial level, it's a very coarse British Standard Whitworth one.
Hopeless. There simply aren't any BSW bubbles in existence.
I blame the French.

I bought a gadget from a caravan shop years back which screwed to the floor just inside the door. Tiny thing, bubble on both tracks and it was fine. Then it wasn't could tell by eye. Now have a short spirit level which is fine. Pepe is suggesting the same remedy as I was told in my apprentice days in a workshop 60 years ago, new bubbles at the store
