Still waiting to hear back from Sandy but good idea Tony. Could cut it by the kitchen unit as its hidden by the seat cushions.

Following Frantone's suggestion I suddenly thought about removing the cabinet on the rear wall . Sure enough the plastic strip stops just inside the width of the cabinet as the securing bracket is on the wall.. So the surround strip is in 2 pieces around the interior of the van. Simple job to prise it off at the end then it just peels off the bracket. The bracket and strip incidentally are to hide the join line for the interior panels. Upon peeling off the strip to the kitchen unit was able to access the screws which had been pulled out of the wall by the securing screw for the unit shearing off. These just screwed back in to secure the strip to the wall next to tackle the unit itself . The original screw diameter was 4mm so decided to replace with 5mm. Used a long drill to drill out the remaining piece of original screw and fitted the new 5mm screw.
The unit is now tight against the wall and secure. Did have a bit of a job getting the plastic strip back on as it has hardened through age but used a hairdryer on max heat to soften slightly it then pushed back on. I did contact Jandi who hold the plastic strip in stock so if I had a problem getting back on could have replaced it at no great cost. Uploaded a couple of pics so folks can see the strip/bracket arrangement in case need to access or replace. Ready for the next outing.
