Separation

I have just noticed when moving the bed next to the Kitchen area in out Troll 540 that the inner plastic strip that runs around the interior of the van is come away from the body work where it looks like a screw has somehow come out of the wall. it is pushing the kitchen unit away from the wall. I have tried to push it back but it is being difficult. I suspect I need to access the screw head to screw it back in but do not know how or where to access it. It is a mystery why this has happened I only noticed it when the back cushions was moved.
Welcome any comments or ideas how to address the problem.

I would be surprised if it is pushing the kitchen cabinet away from the wall. Isn't it more likely that the kitchen unit is moving away from the wall therefore allowing the strip to move?
Can you get the brown fixing cover off the kitchen cabinet and check the screw that holds the woodwork to the frame?
If the screw behind the white cover strip has come out does it mean it has stripped the thread?

I have had a closer look behind the seal between the kitchen unit and the internal wall and can make out another screw that has pulled out or sheared behind the fridge which probably was attached to the metal framework of the van. That has caused the rest of the strip including the screw in photo to pull away from the wall. It looks like will have to remove fridge to access the offending screw to replace and make secure. Now to figure out how to remove fridge. Any suggestions/advice welcome

When we had the element changed in our fridge 2 years ago, the engineer partially removed the fridge by taking off the cooker/fridge faceplate (the one with "Eriba" written on it). There must have been more than a dozen small screws holding this plate on. He also took off the control knobs.

From what I was able to see, it was just a lift and wobble out after that although he only moved it about 12".

this is the third time typed this reply the post disappears

there are 4 screws in inside of fridge 2 each side
you have to undo the gas tap screws in cupboard because they are too long and go into fridge
the hob lifts by undoing the 4 screws in each corner
the gas pipes are accessed under hob and through the air vent outside

electrics are on top fridge looking at left side

safety first and call someone to reconnect gas electrics if not sure

looking at the pictures is the outside waist screws come through?

the kitchen cabinet is held in with screws behind beige brown covers
good luck

Have had better look and screw that holds the unit to the frame/wall has sheared off hence the unit has moved from the wall and pulled the internal strip with it. I assume the screw goes into the metal frame of the eriba so will have to try and drill it out and secure with new screw. It is about 3mm diameter but my drill bit is not long enough to reach the remaining broken screw so will see if can find a longer drill bit. At least I don't have to remove the fridge which would have been a pain. Often wondered what the circular brown covers concealed
Thanks for the advice

This sounds the same as happened to my Troll recently. One of the screws holding the wardrobe to the frame sheared but as it is directly in line with the edge of the cabinetry I could not get any access to remove the sheared screw. I have had to attach a right-angled bracket to the inside of the cabinet then drill 2 holes for self tapping screws to pull the wardrobe back to the frame. It appears to be a good strong fix.

Now I think the kitchen unit may be loosening! 😤

yes the screws go into the frame Eribanut, or they do on mine at an angle, just had a close encounter with the loo wall , (but remember the fitting of the fridge hence why could say how to do)
wouldn't it be great to somehow drill another hole at a less angle to use the existing fixing plastic,
ensure mark drill bit with tape, to reduce risk of break out.

oo heck that don't sound good at all Frantone, wonder if you remove screw, and smear some butyl sealer on screw whether that would help to keep the screw tight, but not glued in, or will it grease the screw, and cause mess, something to ponder.
just wondering if your screws had some protective oil on from the manufacturing process, , and its lubing them free, may be worth reporting the issue.

P

The screw in pic 1 I suspect is fixing the plastic strip to hide a join in the inner wall. To repair I need to access the screw head which I guess is under the strip. had a good attempt at separating the strip as it should be a 2 piece arrangement but no joy so far.
Don't want to exert too much force to damage it. Anyone know how to access the screw heads ?

Are you basing your two-piece arrangement assumption on having got your fingers down the back of the strip, Mike? If not, and there's no obvious join line where the two parts snap together, I'd probably plump for a one-piece affair which snaps on over the screw heads - I don't think that profile looks like a cosmetic strip that clips to a backing plate.

But I might be wrong.

Can you access one of the ends anywhere to see what kind of section it has?

Frantone,

How did you attach the bracket to the side of the wardrobe? I have a similar situation but the wardrobe side is paper thin and even the smallest screw will go right through.

The bracket I used was a hefty steel right angle so I put 2 bolts through the cabinet side and 2 self tappers into the steel frame. It's hidden inside the wardrobe apart from the bolt heads.

I have been in touch with Jandi and they say the plastic strip hides a metal strip that runs around the interior of the van which would suggest the plastic clips on to it. I am not yet able to access the ends as the strip runs behind the kitchen unit to the door, the other end disappears behind the toilet in washroom. Might need to exert a bit more leverage than my weak old fingers to remove it
