Thanks, it took me a couple hours or so including sanding so no cash to be made here - just the pleasure of making something useful. The other tools I used (in addition to my Karesuando knife) were a small, very sharp, axe and a curved spoon knife. I used some old pine I had which was a bit too dry but the next one will be walnut.....if I can locate a chunk. I'd like to have a go at making a kuksa (wooden drinking cup used by the Sami people in northern Scandinavia) too.

Its been so hot here recently (with my south facing conservatory) sometimes 30+ degrees in the conservatory and up to 28 degrees in the house I have elected to cook outside in the garden, (22.50 hrs at the moment and still 26 degrees in the house)

So rather than turn the cooker on I have been cooking out in the garden with the solo stove, I had my local butcher cut me some thin slices of pork to fry with some stir fry vegetables and tonight I had pork with mushrooms and baby sweetcorn with garlic and soy sauce
Sleeping in this heat has been a problem too with me being up at 05.30 some mornings making tea and having the doors open before sunrise

Taking the stove away with me for the weekend with a box of twigs and pine cones, how cool is that? no gas cylinders, just some cotton wool balls dipped in petroleum jelly and a box of matches.

Steel wool and a 9v battery work well for lighting
