Remoska Guarantee
I have been very interested in the discussion that has been going on about the Remoska cooker. They seem to be very popular and many of you seem to own one. It has been stated in the various comments that they carry a lifetime guarantee, My question is does anyone actually have this guarantee in writing of is this just speculation. The reason that I ask is that I wrote to Lakeland to confirm this guarantee and received the following letter. The letter I must say is very ambiguous and does neither say yes or no , but hints at possibility. I am pondering on whether to buy or not but I do like to be sure before I commit.

During the ten years that we've had standard Remoskas with the glass view panel, they have been returned and exchanged for new ones five times. Each return was done without having our receipt with us, and there has never been a problem. On one occasion, we were on holiday in Gairloch when the Remoska failed. I rang Lakeland and they sent a replacement by courier to our next campsite in Arisaig. They were quite happy for me to just drop the failed one off at my nearest Lakeland next time I was passing.
The most recent failure was when we were near Canturbury a couple of weeks ago. We visited the Canturbury shop and agreed to pay the £40 difference to get the new style improved Remoska which apparently doesn't have the traditional fault.
So, after ten years constant use, we now have a brand new Remoska.
I can't think of many organisations which give such attention to customer care.
Cheers Mark
Being a neutral as we don't own one of these Remoska cookers, what appears to be coming across here is that whilst a lot of good things can be said about the company, Lakeside, there's not a lot of positive things in terms of reliability to be said regarding the cookers themselves.

We've been using ours both in the caravan and at home for five years without any problems so I'd have to disagree regarding unreliability.

Please do not get me wrong, I am not querying reliability, many people have had them for years. If you have had one for five years then you are one of these lucky people. My question is do you or anyone else support the claim that Lakeland guarantee this cooker for life in writing or is this hearsay.

If I had an electrical item that was in regular use going from hot to cold and it packed up after five years I'd be disappointed but accept it. However, if your'e not sure ref the warranty, do what I did and speak to Lakeland HQ, I think you'll be reassured.

Hi Barny if you look at the introduction to this thread you will see that I have been in touch with Lakeland and it is the ambiguity of their reply that I am seeking to clarify. If you have spoken to Lakeland regarding this warranty then what was their answer to you? Please tell.

Whilst it may not be clear the Lakeland guarantee is as it says. If you're not happy that is good enough for them. My friend had a questionaire from Lakeland, just random. One question asked if she had ever been unhappy with any purchase from Lakeland, she replied that one purchase, only a small item, had failed to give complete satisfaction. She didn't ever complain about it to them and only mentioned it in passing, so to speak. A few days later she received a cheque from Lakeland with a letter advising that the product was no longer available so they couldn't replace it so had refunded the purchase price. That is excellent customer service. I have also returned my defective Remoska (with the glass panel) and for an extra contribution (I think £40) have a brand new Remoska, can't grumble.

I emailed Lakeland and their reply was ambiguous too. So I called them and spoke to a supervisor. Bottom line, if it goes wonky, or your'e not happy with it, call them to discuss and they will put it right as in "replacement / refund" even well after five years or more, which I took to mean "Lifetime".
I believe their ambiguity is because they don't want to encourage a "rush" of replacement items,.but they assured me that they will deal with Everything, not just Ramoska, on a ad-hoc basis.
I still didn't buy one because there are still some issues as highlighted on line, but will do at some future date. I opted for the Tefal induction hob at £44 ex J lewis with a 2 year warranty, plus a set of 3 pans, fry, sauce, and stock, which are excellent quality and were recommended by Randa. Hope this helps.

Hi barny thanks very much for answering me, the answer that you have given is very similar to that of Julie Grafo. Her interpretation is very similar to what I understood from the email that I received, in as much as that there is no "Lifetime" guarantee of the product, but there is a lifetime guarantee on satisfaction. Now that my mind is clear on that, I have put the subject to bed and I will be joining all you Remoska owners in the near future. I have already purchased the cookbook just to see how versatile it is. Thanks to everyone who made comments in this discussion. Tom

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I didn't find the letter from Lakeland that the OP put on ambiguous.
Lakeland's view to me is that if it's faulty or you're not happy with it they will replace it. I think it's difficult to give a lifetime guarantee because that may imply that when an item has simply worn out, they will replace it.
Besides the Remoska, we've taken one or two items back to Lakeland which had faults. Each time, with no receipt, the staff exchanged them without the blink of an eye.

I've posted this before, but for new members who may be interested, attached are some Remoska recipes that I gathered from t'Internet and put into a .pdf document some time back.

You could of course go this route. Five days delivery, two year warranty, if it goes wonky, they collect it.
