I s'pose it's a 50/50 chance whether it's right or wrong.
Funnily enough though I can remember several points in my youth where the correct orientation of the Union Jack was brought to my attention, several times at school and several times in the Air Training Corps. Makes you wonder where the people spejnd their formative years when they profess they never knew it had a correct way round.
Which reminds me, in the interests of equality, the majority of folk are right handed and the minority of folk that used to be left handed, are now designated as 'correct handed'. So we have right turns and correct turns etc, etc.

I have always understood the flying of the Union Flag upside down was a covert distress signal! How very British and how very Empire…..!
For Roger I suggest that he has a look at http://www.jdawiseman.com/papers/union-j...nion_jacks.html I am sure he will find a kindred spirit.
A further article on the same page will give information on how to correctly draw a Union Jack: http://www.jdawiseman.com/papers/union-jack/union-jack.html this will identify a lot of other areas for incorrect representation of our flag.

"The One Show" tonight featured The Ice Maidens, a team of British Army females who crossed the Antartic recently.
I realise that at the end of the exhausting trip the team had more on their minds than the Union Flag but surely the photographer should have noticed something wasn't quite right?

Have a butcher's here. Diplomatic service flag, bottom right of page 13 on the PDF; page 11 of the article itself.
The flag has the thick white stripe closest to the lion's backside, and since the lion is always on the left it'll always be like that no matter which end is fastened. I'd imagine that it's always a two-sided affair as well so that there isn't a back view as such, and that it never reads tiord nom te ueid.
