I'm beginning to wonder if we are OK as we are in that case. We've never failed to get a reasonable reception as far as I can remember
Just one question though, the Saw Fish Aerial that Poptop and Hob have, I presume is directional so the comedy rigmarole that Mr Le Pew describes would have to take place?
Yes it is, I usually lean in through the front window while having a twiddle

Can the directional ones be fixed in either the vertical plane or the horizontal plane dependent on the local mast characteristics?
Randa
Yes mine can you undo a nut slide it out turn through 90 deg and do it up again

And the circular ones are multi-directional and less efficient?

I have learned that in most UK cases the aerial I and Poptop have favours the flat attitude. We switch on and lean out the side window and twist the pole until the best signal is in then nip out and tighten it.
On the TV issue but at home not camping, is it possible to get Sky Arts on our Sony?

I've been using an Avtex STH2000 for 3 years in my VW camper and now the Puck with brilliant reception. The included suction mount works great on any part of the Eriba (just give the panel a quick wipe first to remove dust/dirt).
I have an Avtex TV which provides power to the aerial to boost the signal but an external 12v plug is included if you have a different TV. It's just my opinion but In a half decent reception area the aerial will work just fine without the power boost.
The NECVOX recommended earlier is also a very good compact aerial but I'm not sure how it would perform on an Eriba. It was widely used in the VW community but I think may have relied on the steel roof for its performance???

Doesn't have to be Sky though - you can get it on Virgin or TalkTalk.
The best way to see it is to buy a Sky remote control off Ebay, find a neighbour who has Sky, stand outside their living room window and change the channel.
You don't need the sound. Who wants to listen to Joan Bakewell blithering on about landscapes or Frank Skinner pretending he knows more than bugger all about anything?

Well this just confirms it, I'm obviously a complete philistine or technophobe (you choose). We don't have TV in the Eriba, small radio, scrabble, kindle and wine is more than enough, if all that fails we talk to each other, radical I know. To be honest I don't recommend the talking, can lead to all sorts of problems best off just sticking to the wine and the kindle.
