There's a German company called EMUK who make unique fit towing mirrors. They aren't generic like Milencos. What they are is quite expensive, though.
I couldn't get on with Aeros when I used them on our previous car, so much so that it put me off using them. It would have been more of an issue if our car was smaller than it was, so I wasn't too bothered. Thing is we changed car too, and since the new one is more marginal I decided that I'd take the plunge and get some of the EMUK ones.
They're excellent. They fit properly and don't wobble around at all.
EMUK do do a pair for a 2016 Tiguan. Your best bet is to Google EMUK 100164 (The model number) and see what you can find. I got mine from a German seller on eBay.de.
I doubt you'll see much change out of ninety quid, but if you flog your Aeros on eBay you can offset some of the cost. That's what I did. I think I got not far short of forty quid for them.
I don't know if you want to spend that much money, but if you do, you'll get some quality mirrors made specifically for that car.
This is the mirror section of EMUK's website.

We might have the Milencos off you Magpie. I have to check whether they fit our new vehicle first (the one I am not allowed to describe!). I'll let you know asap
2010 VW T5 & 2014 Triton 420 GT, both in silver.
I too own a pair of EMUK mirrors and think I am correct in saying that Pepe purchased his after seeing pictures of them on my car.
They are certainly not cheap by any means as has already been stated but one pays for quality and these are quality mirrors. The paint finish is flawless, the fitting excellent with those on my Mazda CX-5 producing no vibration whatsoever. The inside face of the arms are lined with a rubber type material as are the main and only fixing clip which not only absorb the vibration but also ensure that there is a non-scratch and softish contact with your car mirrors.
Previously to the EMUK's I used the Melenco Aero 2 mirrors which were acceptable if not exceptional although (a) they took a bit of fiddling about to get the adjustment just right and then after an hour or so's travelling they needed adjusting once more and (b) I wasn't particularly enamored with the fixing arrangement in that it meant screwing down on the securing clips down onto the plastic surface rim of the mirrors. Nobody wants to see their extension mirrors flying off during travelling and so we ensure that the mirrors are firmly secured. With the Milenco clips and the slight give in the rim of the cars mirrors I was always unsure of when to stop tightening with the feeling that with one more turn the rim of the car mirror would crack. On the other hand, the EMUK's are more car mirror hugging with only one clamp and in combination with the form of the arms and the rubber lining make these extension mirrors 100% secure.
To repeat these mirrors are certainly not cheap and I've taken the liberty of checking out the EMUK website (it's in German) and posted here a few screenshots. As you can see for yourself, for the Tiguan the EMUK's would set you back 180,23 Euros plus postage. That said, the arms are colour coded and one needs to enter the cars paint code during the ordering process. The arms are one could say generous in length and are of course intended to allow for much wider caravans than our small Eriba's. I cut mine down a bit as my SUV car is also quite wide which is easy enough to do and once the rubber cap is place over the new end you'd never know.

Quote: jasond4289 wrote in post #3There's a bit in that thread that made oi larf - someone said they'd used a bit of string to tie their Aeros to the original wing mirrors:
Some discussion here on the subject. Seems others have had the same issue, but many swear by the Milenco's!
"The only other thing i always do with my mirrors is fit a lanyard, simple piece of black cord, which is tied to the mirror arm and looped around the vehicle mirror mounting, that way if your mirrors come loose they drop down and sit against the side of the door panel and do not fall on the road, gives you time to pull over and re-attach."
Drop down and sit against the side of the door panel my arse. If one fell off at speed you'd have a door full of horrid dents before you could 'pull over and re-attach'.
I disliked the Aeros I had so much I'd make a point of not doing that - nothing would have made me happier than for them to go straight under the wheels of the artic behind.

Concur absolutely with the first part but an artic !!!!!!! I disposed of mine via eBay as I doubt an artic driver would have paid me anything.
OK so we have ordered some from e-bay Germany. Just hope they fit!!! If they are as good as you say they will be worth it! Many thanks for all the help.
I think you'll be well pleased. Here's a few photos of how they look on my car (Mazda CX-5). They show the rubber strip sandwiched between the aluminum arm and the mirror and how the arm is attached to the mirror itself. These are the colour coded version of course and as mentioned earlier, I cut the arms down a bit as they were far too long for my car/caravan combination. Extension Mirrors
