Not Feeling Flush

Getting Eggbert ready for his first trip ,

1. water tanks flushed and cleaned, these are two 20 litre containers am I right to think people travel with these empty I am tempted to half fill them and then check the nose weight any comments ?

2 Thetford 402C the flush tank was showing full on the sight gauge but would not flush on the button I can hear the pump operating though, however I did notice the the water was coloured light blue, so guessing the previous owner may have put the wrong product in, mind you I would not think this would effect the flush operation. Plan at the moment is to drain the flush system , flush through with fresh water , when clear add rose flush fluid and top the tank up. Fingers crossed it works then if not watch this space.

Many thanks

Andy

I think the metric system is based on a litre of water weighing a kilo? if so 2 1\2 full 20L containers would add 20 kilos to your overall weight leaving you 20 kilo's less payload for other things. a 2 litre lemonade bottle of water for use while towing would give you back 18 kilo's of that and the containers will not have the inertia of all that water sloshing around.

I personally don't travel with any water in the containers as it won't be a constant weight with it sloshing around. It's a bit off subject but the old green goddess that were used by the military had no baffles in the water tanks and they were prone to rolling over if they went round a corner too quick...

For travelling we just keep 2 1.5ltr bottles - one with clean water for hand washing and one with pink flushy stuff for the loo. In fact our Thetford flushy thing is so hard to operate that we flush with bottled stuff all the time.

On my Triton I need to keep all the water tanks full plus another 20litre plastic jerry can full in the front cupboard to get the Noseweight to a reasonable level, but when I come back from Spain this summer it might well be replaced with beer and wine 👍

Wouldn't you be better off carrying meat pies, beans, bacon and Tetley tea bags on the outward journey Chris, to sell to the ex-pats?

Hi Randa,

Sounds a good scheme, with the exchange rate as it is could be a good little earner 😎
