Hitch lock advise for a 420 newbie
in Anything Eriba-related Mon Apr 17, 2017 1:20 pmby Carlosfandango (deleted)
Hi all, apologies up front as I'm sure is a discussion thread on here somewhere & ive tried the 'search' box with no luck, but I'm totally new to Eribas and I'm searching for a suitable hitch lock for my 2016 GT. I've trawled the Internet but the more I look the more confusing it gets .. For me any how 😀
If there is a link on this forum I'd be more than happy to read through it if someone could kindly post the link.
Many thanks

I believe you have an Alko 3004 hitch and would advise you get the genuine Alko lock. It should be this one:- http://www.al-ko.com/shop/uk_vt/products...ak-160-300.html
You are lucky in that later vans such as yours do not need the fitting kit you see included. You do need to make sure you get the security ball though.
If you use our friend e-bay you may find red or grey versions. I bought a grey one for mine as I liked the colour. I think the paint may be a bit thinner though.
You could get 2nd hand and tatty for about £50 or this nice new one inc ball and p&p for £79. Werbung: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AL-KO-AKS-2004...%3D262350495863

Think they fit the AKS 3004 Stabiliser these days

In which case the bottom ones in this add should fit

eribaMotters are you correct with this one? it looks like the 1300 hitch one to me?

Thats an awful website I've read that page several times now and to me it doesn't sat what it fits
I use a Saracen Ultra on my AKS1300

Do some insurance companies specify the type of hitch lock or just that one needs to be fitted?

Ahh Mr Hob. We agree on how confusing the ALKO site is.
My first link to the ALKO site is suspect.
My second link to item on ebay should be fine.
Further confusement to be found as some genuine ALKO locks are advertised as fitting 1300, 2004 and 3004. This may be down to alterations in the actual hitch as later versions do not seem to need the mounting kit.
I bought the unit as in the attached photos advertised specifically for the 3004 on my 2017 van [same hitch as 2016 van].
The numbers on the top of the lock [I can see them in the high definition photo on my computer] read ETI 811322.

Can't find my insurance (maybe I forgot to do it last year?)
But I get the feeling some companies specify the make of hitch and wheel lock? but I may be wrong.

Confusing aint it spot the difference .....I can't
https://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/alko-towing-spares/alko-security/security-device-aks-1300-stabiliser-/prod_117.html
https://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/alko-towing-spares/alko-security/alko-2004/3004-security-lock/prod_1003.html
In the description for the second link, "fitting brackets" it omitted as the later models have them cast in, the lock is the same.
