In my search for a 540 I emailed AL this morning and Cameron has responded offering a rather unusual van.

He says it's an immaculate 2007MY van, previously owned by a 'collector' whatever that means.

Apparently the previous owner chose to remove the washroom and substitute it with a second kitchen, which featured a microwave where the fridge usually fits. According to Cameron the kitchen was fitted using fixing points for the washroom, so no additional holes etc. The original washroom was kept in store and AL are refitting it. Personally I'd rather have the current washroom instead, though maybe that's not possible given the wider body etc of current vans.

So does anybody recognise the doctored 540 and what do you think of it?

I hate to say it but those photos look very similar to the ones I took of our Triton AFTER it slid on it's side down the German Autobahn

Oops, double trouble!

That had me fuggled too Roger, 'til I realised it was a mirror on the side of the wardrobe.

Another odd thing is that the exterior of the 'toilet wall' lying on its side in the lounge appears to have a mirror on it. But given that when it's in situ the nearside dinette seat is below it, you can't really get into a position to use a mirror on that wall.

I can understand someone thinking there's not enough kitchen, but to me it's a bit of a drastic solution to wrest out the whole washroom and deprive yourself of an onboard loo, not to mention basin and maybe a shower too. Especially so when you have a girt large table, a dinette table and a central cabinet top that can be used as worktop. And if you must have a microwave, a freestanding one is easy enough.

I wonder what happened to the obscure window?

Well I've run down the list and checked the pics and I'm wondering what else I need to look for/ what can be fitted given the opportunity of a rebuild.

The door dustbin didn't come 'til later so unless I use Mr Frantones hand gouging version from my garage I guess there won't be one.

I haven't confirmed the weight but at that time it was 940kg MIRO and 1200kg MTPLM giving a 260KG payload.

Judging by the little plate on the rear, it's probably Lechlade supplied and therefore probably has a spare underneath.

Need to check whether the rear benches under all that stuff are interior sprung but likely.

It presumably has Autonomy package

Fan and ducting is likely

Probably no water tank but it would save lugging an Aquaroll about, but it probably has a water inlet in the washroom.

As it's cold only it may not have shower stuff in the remnants of that washroom.

So I need to check all those things with AL but is there anything I've missed that I should ask to be installed?

I must be being dense Colin, what's the 'middle mount' to which you refer?
