I have a length of something similar from Aldi/Lidl, yellow in colour with holes in it. I've been looking for something like this in a larger size to cut out a "made to measure" mat that can be rolled up and stored under the bed, for use when the floor gets cold. Has anybody done similar. The material is like the clip together square rubber tiles, but at 7mm thick would allow you to open underbed hatches etc.

Why not fit a carpet, have the edges bound & leave it down all year, choose one with the felt underlay bonded to the back which are quite thin? You could colour code it to the upholstery?
I Fitted one in the mother in law's flat a few years ago, didn't bother with binding as it was non fraying but would probably need it in a van + it would look a lot better. I still have an off cut in the boot under the dog bed, I take it out every so often, vacuum the dog's hairs off & put it back.
I think the problem with the EVA foam is that it wouldn't take much wear with outdoor shoes & would start to look a bit tatty fairly quickly.

Personal taste really in that I do not like the idea of carpet in the van, except for a mat as you walk in. The vinyl is so easy to keep clean when away, dust pan and brush then a wipe down, with a wet wipe sometimes and it's as good as new. The idea of the foam mat is it can live under the fixed bed and if it gets cold underfoot when away we can roll it out.

I know what you mean, our M/home had loose fitted carpets, nice to walk on but we were forever brushing up grass & mud etc.
Have you had a look at underlay for wooden flooring, I had some given to me by a friend that was left over from a job, it was similar to the EVA but not as dense or as thick at only 3 mm but I would think it would be quite warm & soft underfoot although probably not very hard wearing, not sure if there are different qualities?
Another option would be to cover the existing vinyl with a good quality vinyl 'Cushion Floor', the sort that is used for kitchen floors. That is about 3 - 4mm thick & quite warm & soft, you could leave that down as it gives the same benefit as the existing floor with regard to cleaning.

We like the hard floor in the Eriba - easy to keep clean but after a couple of uses, we quite like the idea of rugs under the table.
We picked up three £2.25 mats from Ikea for our Troll 530. One goes under the smaller front end, the other two go next to each other under the larger, rear dinette. Perfect fit. Plus one of those Dunelm doormats that suck up dirt (we trimmed to size) for the front door where you walk in. The mat has stripes in it and matches the eriba pretty well.
They are small so can easily be taken outside for a quick bang to get any muck off them.

I feel really silly saying this because I'm obviously missing something blindingly obvious, but wouldn't a pair of socks solve the problem?
If I had cold feet, socks are the first thing I'd think of.
You can get them at all kinds of places these days. They come in a range of attractive colours and sizes, and the beginner's models are quite cheap.

A fair comment from a wise person. I just find it easier not having to put socks on before getting out of bed.

Oh come on Pete that's really inconsiderate. We're not all as young and sylphelike as you. I need a ten minute rest after trying to get my socks on.

I didn't want to upset anybody.
I'm very sorry.

Oh what have I started. This is turning out to be more contentious than hot water or not, and which awning should I buy.
I think I'll start my next thread on - Red wine or white, or possibly rose.
Happy days - Colin
And talking of socks, the lovely Mrs eribaMotters has informed me if she has to knit me a pair then she needs four different needles. Sod that I said, just buy a pair.

I didn't know you had a spare pair. I've seen the green one and the red one. Does that mean you have a red one and a green one pair as well? Now that IS posh.
