To save £170 you must have initially been paying through the nose . My policy with Lifesure is £240 for £25.5K new for old.

That is only for Post 1992 caravans. It is not necessary for pre 1992 caravans.IMG_2366_LI.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

I was with the caravan club..., I chose the caravan guard as my mate used them, when he had a claim they paid up no issues, plus they do old for new up to 15 years, most caravan insurance firms only give 5 years for old for new.

Cover4Caravans.
As it affects us, I gave Cover4Caravans a call a moment ago.
It would appear that the OP is correct in saying that due to a change in underwriter, any post 1992 caravan must be Cris registered.
I explained that we only took the policy out with them at the beginning of this month and remember that at the time I was asked if I was cris registered. When I said I was not they entered the chassis number of our van instead and that appears on the policy.
I didn't get a satisfactory explaination from them today as to why this has occured in less than a month but they said that they would switch my policy to a different underwriter and send out new documents.
I also asked about our members who are in the same boat and they said that folk should ring them and discuss the situation. OK then for Eriba folk who read this thread but what about all the other caravan owners out there?

I just rang and was told that my policy with Zenith Insurance that I renewed 29 April is not affected. I was then asked if I was with the 'Eriba Club' and told that anyone affected will be transferred to another insurer that does not require CRIS registration, free of charge.
When I asked about renewal next year I was told that I would not be required to have CRIS registration and that my chassis number (as currently entered on my policy documents) will be sufficient.
Not a problem.

I've just looked this up :-

and I'm wondering if it's worth doing as it's only £15.00.
What do others think?

I only got mine CRiS registered so that I would have more insurance choice, it may be worth ringing up CRiS to see if the £15 is ok for the Eriba. I had to use the imported caravan route..

£65 for an imported caravan, which I'm guessing all Eribas will fall under? I know we looked at it when we bought ours earlier this year and we couldn't get it for £15.

I have just Emailed CRIS on behalf of all Eriba owners (4000 plus in Eribafolk alone) and asked the question.
Let's see what happens for as you say, £15.00 is OK but £65.00 for no apparent reason, stinks.

Imported caravans £65 .8-12 weeks to REGISTER
Mine took about 8 weeks, they have to first check all the police data bases including Interpol that it isn't a stolen caravan. When that comes back clear it is CRiS registered, you will receive a separate certificate, you then have to wait again for a private firm to make the unique anti tamper CRiS stickers that go on the windows and a hidden RFD scanner sticker.

When I bought my Troll from Jandi this year I did ask Sandy about CRiS. He said he would register it for me if that was what I wanted but he had never found a need for it in all his years of selling or using caravans. I didn't bother. On contacting Saga to change insurance details they asked if it was CRiS registered. I pointed out it was an Eriba and offered the chassis number. They said that was fine, end of.
