Does any one have any recommendations for a electric heater (for when we have a hook up) At the moment while its on the drive & if i want to use it an electric heater it would be handy. i would i think prefer a non fan type because of the noise, obviously compact & not to high on the wattage. I'm not to sure on the limits on the caravan circuits.

Lots of info if use the search facility, but to summarise all the posts. Unless you want to fit an electric element to the gas fire or a small electric panel heater, then get a small, 500 watt, pil filled radiator. This should cope with the majority of your needs and plenty are available from about £20.
We went posh and bought the previous model to this DeLonghi. https://www.johnlewis.com/de'longhi-trns0505m-nano-s-oil-filled-radiator/p3065122 We have three we use around the house.

I wonder how much it would cost to add electric element to the gas fire but obviously that's not going to happen at the moment

The Truma electric element conversion is expensive as a dealer fit, but many owners have done it.
I don't know which Eriba you have, but as an alternative I mounted a flat panel heater just inside the door on my Triton 430. Have a look here, third row down, second picture in. 2017 Triton 430 - extras and modifications I am aware that the model Adax VP heater isno longer made, but something similar must be out there.

You have space for a shallow panel heater, but unfortunatey if you found one to fit then youl'd have to remove the fridge to fit it. The mounting brackets need to be bolted through the panel and not screwed to it.

Hi Monoboard
We have used three different electric heat sources in the 3 years we have had our Troll. We don't use our gas heater much.

1) A small oil filled rad like Colin uses. We use this as background heat in Spring & Autumn and it is really good at taking the chill off the van. It has a thermostat so we sometimes leave it on low all night if it suddenly gets chilly. However when it gets really cold it doesn't have a massive effect and my ears start to get cold.

2) We bought a small halogen heater to supplement the rad. This was OK but the heat didn't go very far from the front and we were conscious of walking around it with a hot front. So after a while we replaced it with...

3) A small fan heater. We were reluctant to do so because of the noise from the fan. However we found that the fan heater blew warm air better to the far end of the van (under the seats/bed). So what we tend to do is have the rad on as back ground heating and supplement this with short sharp blasts from the fan with the thermostat set on the fan. This usually does us through to the eally cold November weather.

When it gets icy outside we then tend to use the gas heater more until we go to bd. Then I sleep with a very cute bobble hat on if it gets below freezing.

Hope this is useful

We have a Familia 320 with the Truma electric element in our gas fire, it was worth every penny. We use this more than the gas fire, at night time when it's cold we can have it on low to keep the chill off. We also have a cheap electric fan heater that has a no heat setting. The hot air warms up our awning very quickly and the cold setting is useful in very hot weather.

We have a Troll 540 which we use a 800W Mini oil filled Radiator. It is just big enough to keep chill off in van. If really cold as we used to camp all year round used gas to warm up van then at bedtime leave rad on max overnight. If you can locate a 800-1000W Rad is should keep you toasty in a Familia

50dB quiet ?? not when you trying to sleep methinks. Only noise from the oil rad is the thermostat clicking in every now and then. However if you have consumed enough wine !!

80/90 decibels
Measured in decibels (db) snoring usually falls between 60 and 80/90 decibels, compared to normal talking which is about 60 db, a vacuum cleaner which is 70 db, and a chainsaw, about 100 db. Loud snoring, then, is an indicator for earplugs.

I bought 200 pair of Uvex some years ago and wear them every night. I find them comfortable and last wel, this is usually a couple of weeks, or if they get wet they loose there effectiveness. These look like them https://www.uvex-safety.co.uk/en/product...sable-earplugs/

Hi I was thinking of the same thing in my troll, I have a 542 and I was looking at an Alex Neo 400 w panel heater fitted to the end of the sink unit by the door, I didn’t get round to measuring if the 400w would fit and of course it would mean finding an elec supply but there are electrics within the sink unit, just a thought?
