Thanks John,
I quickly found out that the Truma Valves were obviously hand carved from a solid gold ingot.
I've actually sourced another valve similar to the Screwfix one but with a fixing foot for extra security.
I've also just succeeded in getting the blank plug out of the top of the manifold. My goodness that was tight. I had to unscrew the complete manifold from the cupboard wall, with out disconnecting the gas lines, so that I could get a large adjustable spanner to grip the manifold and an equally long spanner on the top nut.......that was never going to vibrate loose!
Thanks again for your help.

Oh heck I wrote my post the wrong way round, Luckily John E has corrected me, I've been back and edited, these posts stay around a long time, and it wasn't my intention to mislead.

With some trepidation I took a 60mm hole saw to my poor Triton's body and very quickly and easily had a hole through to the cabinet under the sink.

Sealed the Bullfinch connector in with silkaflex and left it to settle overnight.

Finally connected 8mm copper pipe to the top of the gas manifold via an isolating valve.
Tested for leaks with a revealing spray, seems OK. Will get a proper leak test later before use.

Good tip JohnE,
I had some metal p clips which I didn't want to use, afraid of chafing in transit. My solution is actually a cable tie which is a soft nylon, cut off with a screw in the end to keep the pipe from moving about during transit.
I'm assuming that if my home made clip is tight, it will not permit any chafing therefore not going to wear through the pipe.
Maybe I should take a few years out and learn to be a mobile caravan engineer, then a boxful of the correct clips would come in handy.
Thanks
Ray

it is a lot easier on the nerves if you drill a tiny pilot hole first. If you do get it wrong it is much easier to put right. Then you can cut the big hole with confidence.

Started from the outside where I had marked off the steel framework. Once the hole saw cuts through the outer skin, which was very thin, it's straight through the polystyrene and in to the interior wall board. As soon as the pilot drill of the hole saw cut through the wall board I finished it off from inside.
The cutter and arbour were very cheap from Ebay at £5.40.
The hardest part of the job was sealing the Bulfinch fitting with Sikaflex and cleaning it up!

I also have a Bullfinch gas connector (mine is behind the wheel arch) but didn't see the need for Sikaflex as there is a large O-ring on the back of the plastic body.
Just used 4 decent stainless self tappers into the aluminium and the seal is good without any sticky mess...

Yes, I noted the rubber seals rs540, including screw head seals.
When I first offered the connector up dry without the gas pipe, I noticed there was some significant flexing between the Eriba's aluminium skin and the Bulfinch fitting when lifting the flap, which was quite stiff. I was concerned that the self tappers would not have enough purchase in the aluminium skin so decided to use silkaflex to bond the fitting to the skin for additional strength.
