HOW TO remove the pop top canvas

I don't think there will be a lot of difference between your 2007 Puck L and our earlier Troll. Yes, the bottom aluminium rail that "traps" the canvas will come out as you say and I describe but the top aluminium rail is fixed on with a myriad of small screws and the top of the canvas is held into this rail in much the same way that an Eriba awning or sunshade is held into the awning rail.

What I did was to find a way of getting an end of the rubber bead out of the track. In our case we had a bulge in the top rail and a cut end nearby. There will be a cut end somewhere at the top of the canvas but if you can't find one then create one at the top of a vent triangle.

The way we did it is not I suspect, the only way but I still think it'll be far easier than any other method which I believe will involve taking the pop top off.

No, I didn't disturb that at all. On our Troll, the top aluminium "rail" is, as far as I remember, one piece (perhaps not?). The "bulge" was near to the door side roof vent so that's where I started.

OK. I'm flying blind now. We were able to unpick the fabric at the top of the zip joint and the cut end was exposed.

What is certain is that you will need to cut the rubber bead at some point otherwise you'll just be pushing and heaving the canvas round and around in the aluminium rail channel. I don't think you'll be able to create a bulge at the roof vent but if you are able to then I would do that before unpicking the fabric joint at the top of the zip and cutting the rubber bead there.

You don't need to cut or unpick the fabric for more than is necessary to get one end of the cut bead out of the channel while leaving the other cut end in the slot. By coaxing the end further and further out of the channel, the other end will be pulled through and will be the last bit to come out.

Look at the photo of mine below, after I had pulled it all through the aluminium channel. You'll see the cut end and also the minimal amount of unpicking we had to do.

If you look at the copy of one of your photos also below, I have suggested that as an alternative you could make a small nick into the top of the fabric where it wraps around the rubber bead, before cutting the bead at that point. My only concern is that there is a lot of pulling and pushing (and swearing) that takes place as you draw one end of the canvas out whilst pulling the rest of it through. Especially tight where the vents go around the corners. I would hate for you to rip the canvas where you've made the nick.

Getting it all back in is the complete reverse and with the help of some silicone spray it is quite a bit easier.

We did it with much trepidation but we had nothing to lose. We had already tried cleaning it in situ with no effect.

Therefore the canvas had to come out and even then normal washing wouldn't budge the stains. We had to resort to raw bleach and rapid scrubbing whilst hosing it down. Our only other option would have been a new canvas.
