We have just purchased a new 542 which we love - especially the very comfy fixed bed. We just wondered what people did to protect / cover their beds. Mattress toppers, protective sheets / covers or what? The dealer recommended Duvalay but we love using our duvet so just need advice on what to put under us and what sizes, as mattress cover sizes don’t seem to match! Any help or advice gratefully received!

We use two duvets, King size on top and double underneath. Keeps you cosy warm.

We use a memory foam topper with a fitted sheet over the top. We then use a double bed duvet with standard bed pillows. When I go away I want to feel like I am in a normal bed and not camping. I have a Familia 320, we keep the bed made up and eat in the awning.

What size topper do you use as a matter of interest? I’ve said a king size topper would work and we can just fold it over if we need to access our storage under the bed. My other half isn’t sure!!

My topper fits my Familia bed which is 140cm 186cm I would assume that it is a standard double bed size.

We have a 542 and we have recently ordered from www.freedomis.co.uk ( Snuglux) memory foam toppers with covers and fitted sheets. We had previously used our own sheets but they did not fit correctly etc we also use two separate duvets .We were recommended the company by another 542 owner who is very pleased with his sheets etc they made for him, they have all the 542 size and templates etc
Kind Regards Martin

Hi Gary

A good van to buy. We have the 540 which has the multifunctional bed thing but most of the time we sleep on it as a very large double across the van. We love our comfort and after messing around with a few things we have settled for this for the last two years, and we sleep like logs.

We have bought two single Duvalays with a fixed sheet which we put side by side on the double. We then put a king sized bottom fixed sheet on top that holds the two Duvalay matresses together. We then put another king size top sheet over us. We then have our own single quilt to put on top. Ks quilt is a higher tog than mine. So we sleep together under the sheet but have our own quilt on top.

We have a king sized blanket at the bottom just over our toes which we can pull up in really cold weather, or kick off if it is hot. We also each have two pillows. One a feather filled one the other with a man made special filling that can stay a bit cool if it is hot.

The set up really works for us and now we are retired we never get up whilst camping until after 9.00.it is really cosy.......

I put down a duvet, then instead of a sheet, a whole cloth quilt which adds extra protection and warmth, is easier to lay flat than a sheet, then it's our big duvet and pillows to be snug. In the morning, I roll it up into a sausage, and it sits under the table under the back window. Our bed isn't fixed,.

We use a fitted sheet which my wife altered to fit, and a summer weight duvet with {in very cold weather] a light fleece blanket, never been cold even down to -5c

We have a merino wool mattress topper, it's just incredible! We had it on our sofa bed at home before realising it was the perfect size for our Troll (standard double) so we moved it over.

In the Troll 540, we have a King SIze mattress topper and fitted sheet. Where we might vary from others is we use 2 single duvets rather than a double. We find that less 'intrusive' in the night when one turns over and takes the duvet with them.. (no names, no pack drill...)

Yes Cabbie - been there, experienced that.

That's why we also use two single duvets as well. However on really cold mornings K has been known to try to pull my duvet across on top of hers.......!
