Therer's a similar debate going on on the Eribafolk Facebook Group.
What I think is very naughty is that when I looked on the Leisure First (aka Automotive Leisure) website, they no longer advertise used vans at a fixed price. They are all banded and you have to make a specific enquiry.
I used to rely on them to gauge prices for used vans knowing that although you may pay a grand extra you were buying from a reputable dealer.

Hi Andy, the extras very quickly soon add up.
We have ordered a new Troll 530 gt for delivery in June, base price was less than 23k, but by the time we have added everything we want it adds up to 28k.
For example the autonomy pack, which is battery and chargers is £695, the awning £1300 etc.
We know we could have waited a very long time for the van with even some of the spec we want so took the plunge.
I was recently quoted 25k for a 2018 troll gt which still would have cost a couple of thousand more for some extras we wanted.
We are seasoned caravanners however so have a very good idea of what we do and don’t want now having owned 2 swift’s, a motorhome, a T@b and an Airstream 🤣🤣

Thanks for all your advice guys. We have bought a 1994 Familia. It’s a lovely van and we will see how we get on with it, before looking at buying brand new in a year or two.

We did the same thing Andy and bought a 1997 Pan Duo T (Familia 320) and almost 5 years later we still like it.Very light and easy to tow even with our little VW Polo.My wallet would need serious intensive care if I bought a new one and like Randa I would need a newer car.I'm sure you will enjoy yours too.

Hi Andy
That sounds to be a great eventual outcome. I'm sure that you will love your Familia.
Not suggesting that you do it but we met a couple who took their's to Greece and then the next year to Norway.............
If you do then decide to buy new in the future perhaps two things to think about:
a. As Debbie says the cost of extras soon really add up
b. If you order a new one it can take ages to be built and then delivered. from Germany We ordered ours in October 2015 and it arrived at AL in Poole at the end of July 2016.
Have fun

Thanks for all your kind words. I will no doubt be in other parts of this website soon getting some valuable advice. My wife has already started buying various trinkets for her. We are keeping the name she already has. She has also bought the porta loo and privacy tent. We know it needs an awning and thinking the handbrake might need looking at one day. ( sorry this is for a different forum).
We have not actually seen the van in real life but the owners sent lots of videos and the fact it has a name, means that it has been loved.
