Quote: Frantone wrote in post #30The deflector baffle to which Tony refers can be seen in this picture. It's just a bent piece of van skin alloy probably from when the hole for the underbed locker door was cut.
The classic sign of a poor fitting is the warming of the worktop above the fridge. There should be some sort of baffle or deflector to direct heat out of the top vent and the whole unit ought to be sealed.

Tony is the black Tee shaped your gas flue outlet?? and if so should it be attached to the bit that has what looks like a yellow blob on it?
I can't see your vent in the pic has it got a gas fume outlet on it like Brian's?

I'm puzzled by this fridge vent business. Having had a squizz at some of the photos on AL's website it looks as if the most recent vans have identical vent grilles top and bottom instead of having a top grille with the flue exhaust at the right hand side.
That doesn't make sense, especially in light of Tony's flue exhaust venting into the void behind the grille instead of being attached to the back of the dedicated grille outlet.
It looks awfully like a bit of production line 'make do' bodgery, but I don't see how it could be, especially as the vent is actually exhausting combustion gases rather than just heat.

Zitat

Thats what worries me as it appears to vent inside the van

We haven't used our fridge on gas before but we're off to the Twinwood festival this weekend and it's off grid camping. So I thought I would check that it is running OK. Well it lit easily and cooled down quickly but I felt that the worktop was a bit warmer than it ought to be. I removed the external grills and that's when I saw that the flue was not angled towards the vent. (Pic in earlier post).
Then I thought more about it and realised that the vent covers were not like earlier ones we had. There is now no gas flue part to it.
Pete; The fridge may be a different model but the evaporator assembly and associated bits and pieces behind the fridge are almost identical to earlier ones.
I'm not actually too concerned about the venting of the exhaust gases because we rarely use the fridge on gas but the more I think about it the more concerned I am that I have not seen any mention of not using the winter covers when the fridge is running on gas! And aren't the covers mainly designed to be used to prevent the fridge from overcooling in winter use???
I think a call to Jandi may be in order.

we have the metal deflector but also some insulator blanked laid on top of fridge, to stop heat from hob.
the exhaust gases should exit the van,
due to the fact the fridge cabinet is not sealed from the cupboard next door. there is a air gap into the bed locker on ours near wheel arch. I would want exhaust gases externally venting,( belt and braces), even with all the forced ventilation
I suppose the thought is its one flame, exhaust next to grill should exit,
is the old grill type like Aggers picture the same size as yours? could someone change to the 2 piece grill and seal to body to enable extension of exhaust?
hope this gets sorted for your piece of mind

The fridge in my van is well sealed in comparison with previous ones.
[[File:image.jpg|none|auto]]
All possible gaps have sealant and the metal heat shield is full length.
I just wonder why the flue isn't aimed at the vent. Perhaps it would melt the plastic?

I recently shuttered the voids in my fridge vent area
and noticed that the gas flue is mounted internally.
I am waiting on some heatproof foil tape to finish off.
