Very sorry to hear your news Derek. Bone grafts can heal quite quickly so fingers crossed.

Best of luck to you both.

So sorry to hear the news both. The only think you can do is think positive. If there ever is a best time of year then this is it. Get it done and lie low for a few months to get everything to heal properly.

+1 Stay positive Derek

Thanks C, Mike and Taffy. We are trying to remain positive and await the consultants call. I have heard about some alternative ways of bone grafts using man made stuff but I think they are all US based and probably not tried and tested over here. I will ask though.

Afternoon Derek,
So sorry to hear about your setback, I felt exactly the same way in March when my plate failed. I had the bone marrow graft from the hip onto the break in the tibia. The hip was sore for a week or so, but to be honest, since then I haven't given it a thought.
Keep your chin up mate.

Gwen had a successful bone graft with her hip revision a few years back, at Stanmore Hospital in Middlesex......They used goats bone, which we were advised was the nearest to human bones, at that time..........Keep positive, it will get sorted.............Ian.

Derek if they use goats bone you'll need more than an electric razor

Keep your spirits up and think of ALL the good times ahead, we may even get to share another doughnut I'm saving up!!!

Talking about doughnuts, is there to be an Eribafolk Rally next year? If anyone is interested then start a new thread.

I like the idea, whichever it is. Got a smashing celeb with the hash today, free beer, a card, a present and an appropriate song

Latest as per fracture clinic today, I now await a date for surgery, as early as poss they say but also there are now beds.

So frustrating and then to get home and find a bill for £500 to replace the clutch pedal mechanism on the car, which apprently would have been £800 at the main dealers.
