My tap micro switch has broken and I can't take tap apart to change it. So new tap needed but not very many that use just cold water. Have already purchased a Reiche tap but the spigot is too short to go through the bathroom worktop, (tap spigot 200mm worktop 300mm). Does anyone know if you can use a mixer tap with only the cold water attached, or would water come out of the hot side when the tap is turned on. Could the hot side be plugged if so what would you plug it with? I would very much appreciate anyones views on how to get around this problem or any advice on which tap to buy.

Quote: Aaron Calder wrote in post #4...and to do a quote, you hit 'reply' (there's a little yellow pencil on the button) and then scroll down to the bit headed 'Your reply to'. In the top right hand corner of that box it says 'Quote'. Click that and the first box (the one you were going to type in) reappears but with the quoted part at the top. You type what you were going to type immediately after that, and Robert's your mother's brother.

I'm not trying to be awkward - it's just that there are several different types of tap, and we don't know which yours is.

No it was neither of these it was a Riech de lux, but like I said the spigot was too short to go through the worktop.

Funny enough my cold only tap started leaking from the back under the sink, I got a replacement from Jandi £56 ish. as to using a mixer, yes you can, on the water pipe somewhere before the tap fit a Y piece and 2 pipes to the tap, that way no leaks and no matter which you turn the lever you get cold water.
