I plan on giving my supplier feedback, on Monday,
Ask them if they could send the strips out in a box like this. You can get them up to about five metres long.

People use them to send snakes.

No, really...

Our Walker awning came delivered in one long box consisting of a canvas sack containing the awning , a second sack containing the poles and the strip folded in half but with a large radius curve. We stow the strip in the same manner under the rear bed holding the two ends of the strip together with a strong elastic band. There has been no narrowing of the groove either during delivery or later after stowage.

Am I imagining things or did someone post on this thread yesterday that they had travelled 150 miles to Poole with the awning gutter strip left on the awning rail without any additional glueing down?
I've searched for this post again today and it appears to have been deleted or was it on another thread.....

If I am not imagining it why has it been deleted?....did the strip fall off after all?

Yes that was me. There was no way the strip was coming off it was that secure a fit. Obviously we haven't been able to test the effectiveness of the rain strip as the weather has been glorious all weekend.

We are over at the Verwood C&CC site and fitted our strip the day after we arrived on Thursday...
After all the posts from members that have had problems getting the thing on I was pretty apprehensive about it but it went on in about five or six minutes...

It certainly seems a pretty secure fit so I was planning on leaving it on so was pleased to read that your's survived the journey down here to Dorset...and yes the wearher has been stunning...

So it looks like leaving it in place is the way to go.

Feel quite embarrassed to report my gutter strip went in quite easy. Or am I?

Yes but did you have an advantage. Being able to position the strip with both hands and then knock it home with your head

Randa

I wonder how long it will take before someone reports having lost theirs or some perplexed motorcyclist finds himself side-swiped by a length of flying plastic?

No matter how tight it seems I'd be loathe to travel without somehow fixing it in place. Decided to glue ours down with sikaflex. I was a bit aprehesive about removing it again so glued about a foot at either end and a six inch bit close to the middle. It remains to be seen how effective the gluing is as trying to use the sikaflex nozzle to get glue into the gutter strip groove wasn't the easiest job.

For now it seems secure but I'll feel a little bit more confident once we've got to our destination on Thursday.

We've fastened ours down, if it came off, it could easily cause an accident.

The problem is that should the unthinkable happen it will be me and you in the dock. There will be no blame on the supplier who will claim the strip is to be removed prior to travelling. The fact that some of us has struggled to fit them and therefore choose to leave them on will only add to the responsibility.
Of course I have no knowledge of the law but common sense leads me to this conclusion.
I don't recall any instructions with my gutter strip reference fitting/removing for each trip or leaving it fitted.
