We are way off topic here but we rejected the Kia Santa Fe as an option because you couldn't fully adjust the passenger seat anything other than back and forward, which is very important to us when touring extensively. The salesman admitted that KIA was a little driver centric! We would have taken the Jag FPace over the Landy (same price) but the sloping rear tailgate on the FPace doesn't fit with Boris (dog)!!

Anyhoo, if you have breakdown cover, a spare on car/caravan is not that important.

I think Mike has touched upon the answer above. If you have a spare then it can be fitted, by self if it's safe to or in reality, Green Flag or your chosen recovery provider. If you have not got a spare then this is not possible and your holiday may take a turn you would prefer it did not.
In 2012 I had a blown out valve on the car that could not be repaired with gunk. I was in a remote[ish] area of the Dordogne and could not have got anywhere without my spare wheel.

We (for the second time) haven't gone for the underfloor shoebox option Magpie. We use the bathroom for shoes as we never use that...but we might in the future lol.

That underfloor shoebox would be a great place to keep a spare innertube, pump and jack.

I prefer Rory's suggestion for keeping the tonic to go with the gin, that might have swayed me lol

Wow! This has gone a long way from my original inquiry about whether or not the underfloor shoe box was a good idea as an optional extra! Now we're on to breakdown assistance. (Bit like Chinese whispers).

The box is good for tonic mixer etc and veg box, keeps quite cool..

Our 1964 Bedford CA Dormobile had a circular cool box set in the floor (they didn't fit fridges in those days). Remarkably good at keeping dairy produce and booze cool, especially when whizzing along at the breathtaking speed of 50 mph in top gear (3rd ).

Himself says, 'Was that just the hole where the spare wheel fell out?'

Anyway I have just now been informed by AL that you can't have the underfloor box and the motor mover. (Got to think again where to store all the shoes in a 540)!

Himself had a discussion with Cameron this afternoon and like RS540 earlier in this thread has been talked out of it. Pity really but I'm sure we'll have enough space.

I also have a Front fitted Reich Mover (Troll 540), not possible if you talk to AL.
