Food for thought but as this incident has been recorded on the lorry driver's webcam and has obviously been handed over to the Police, I wonder how the caravan owner's insurance company will react, always assuming that they are handed the recording?

In the case of this particular incident, the video had gone viral so the insurance company are bound to see it.

Does anybody know if insurance companies are obliged to pay out for repairs or replacement on fully comprehensive policy holder's vehicles if it is proved to be a case of reckless driving?

The increasing use of webcams brings us back to Frantone's thread:- Dash camera

It may be better not to know, because if Insurers stopped paying out there would be more uninsured drivers about, and according to the people I follow on Twitter there's loads of them "op jessica" is an op where plod target people living in the UK but driving foreign untaxed, uninsured, not legal, vehicles. So much for the much hyped ANPR

I would imagine they could only withhold payment to the insured, not the third party, and then only if convicted.

We were travelling North on thhe M5 earlier today near Worcester, there are some road works and traffic speed is enforced by "average speed cameras" thre's always at least 1 Matey in a 4 x 4 towing a big white box in the OUTSIDE LANE!! thinks he's ok!! WRONG in front of me is an "unmarked" plodcar (if you know what to look for you can recognise them! It also helps if you've worked on a few!) Matey goes by no problem, followed by Mr Plod he's pulled over in front of us and stopped!! No doubt a few tickets and a full roadside check of paperwork, vehicle conditions etc were carried out, and more than likely, a day in court!!!

I call them Pen fifteen!! You'll be smart enough to work that out

Last week I was traveling up the M5 to Gloucester- at a flat out speed of 70 in my 2cv and caravan towing cars 'shot past' at alarming speeds with the the 'vans bouncing all over the road, the tyres nearly leaving the road ! English 'vans seem to have little 'suspension' and certainly no dampers like Eriba and other continental 'vans - no wonder the are so many accidents with them, the drivers seem to have no concept of what's happening !

Also to my amazement I saw another car and caravan on the hard shoulder , on my side, but facing the wrong way ! They were hooked up to each other, so I wondered it the had done a 'controlled pirouette ' there was no sign of any damage, so someone seems to have been lucky !

The more enlightened amongst us will also know that the van will only corner by "skidding" as it is'nt articulated!

CPMG on twitter released this photo of a caravan wheel, vehicle stopped 55 minutes ago for random check, I'm guessing it was a twin axle!

According to the tweet it says "the driver was unaware of the problem"
