I hope the caravan owners in the picture are ok, yesterday I was overtaken by a transit van towing a caravan. I was doing 70 mph at the time , and boy did it wobble when it over took a large lorry further up......

My personal opinion is 60 mph is enough, I could'nt live with myself if god forbid I hurt someone else due to my selfishness! #justsaying

Some are just idiots with little regards to lives always thinking it won't happen to them. Most of the time it's some poor innocent that gets caught in someone's irresponsibility. Just hope everyone's ok

I hope the occupants were ok.
You don't have to drive far during the caravan season to see all the badly loaded
and mismatched outfits on the road. Overloaded or under inflated tyres some so
badly cracked and green that there is livestock still living in it. There are even people
that know nothing about their caravans regarding noseweight, tyre pressures and
how to load them safely within the safe payload. They travel, caravan nose cocked
up or down with the caravan swaying dangerously from side to side, small wonder
there are accidents.
All they have to do is join a good caravan forum for more good advice than you can shake a stick at.

It maybe the poor caravan owner had to swerve and brake suddenly from an idiot cutting it up so we shouldn't jump to any assumptions.

I really am retired! But I keep abreast of what's going on around me by following the local "plod" on twitter, and that's where this came from, although not exactly local, they tweet it to help locals headed that way.

My spots of Eriba's mostly come from Gloucester to Bristol and back which we do regularly for Mrs Agger's retail therapy!

Glad he was ok! and able to pass on the video and of course his verbal account.

To be honest, I see a lot of these incidents, you'll approach a roundabout in my instance mostly without the Eriba, with a double or triple lane approach, you'll be in maybe the "slow" lane for going straight on, and someone with a caravan / trailor or even a lorry approaches in the outer straight on lane, this despite there being nothing behind you. I pull away and they want to rev their engine to bursting point just to pull across in front of you, invariably cutting you up (which by the way is known as "taking away your braking distance" by plod)

I have never done the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) course, no need to, don't want to, BUT it used to be that you had to give a commentary drive, so you would speak your actions, road signs, obstructions, hazards etc. It's worth trying just to see how many bad points you observe.

It is always so easy to blame someone else, but in this incident the web cam showed the cause, how fast was he going! with that caravan, just to cut in front of in his perception a slow moving lorry, which by the way looks to me like it was within the speed limit

I always give way to overtakers, especially where lanes merge,
I know a young lady who is still fighting for compo after a Sainsburys
lorry crushed her car by nor giving way.

Wow! That's horrendous, just to get in fron of a truck. Had it happened to us many times, just to get ahead of a caravan, but luckily they didn't hitus.
