I could'nt possibly suggest that a wwb owner would ever not do a check I guess it a hard job inspecting 4 tyres for signs of wear maybe thats why we choose Eribas (no apostrophe!)

A few months back a car pulled into a motorway services next to us pulling a car trailer with a vintage car on it.
I noticed as it pulled in one of the trailer tyres was completely shredded so I mentioned it thinking that they already knew but they didn't.
Looking at the other 3 tyres and the spare they were all perished and full of cracks!
Unbelievable.

This is live now on the M5 near Gloucester.
I make no apologies for keeping this thread "live" if your a responsible caravanner you'll appreciate the input, these are also mostly captured locally imagine if we had others adding to his thread what we would be dealing with, thankfully no Eribas (no apostrophe) YET!

And another Jct 11a M5, look at the skid marks from lane 3, not assuming anything just pointing it out

now obviously we don't know what happened and hope all concerned are ok
but was quite impressed with how the caravan almost on roof had retained structure, in the days of wooden construction, that be a pile of belongings and match sticks..
thanks Agger

Now there's a story. Although fully aware of the third lane rule when towing, we encountered the following situation on our journey back from Portsmouth 4 weeks ago.
Just to the east of Bath on the M4, a container lugging artic pulled into the 2nd lane, trying to make a pass on a Transit flat bed. We had just overtaken a string of lorries so sat patiently behind this geezer. Once out there he found that he couldn't pass that easily but stayed with his nose barely past the tailgate of the Transit.
By this time a lorry had come up behind us and joined us in an ever increasing queue in the middle lane. I pulled back far enough for the lorry in front to drop back and pull in behind the transit but he failed to do so.
He retained his position for about 5 miles at speeds between 40 and 50 mph. Eventually, on a long straight stretch between Bath and the M32 and after ensuring there was nothing around except for a long queue of lorries behind me, no overhead gantries with cameras as far as I could tell, I pulled into lane 3 and passed him with ease giving him the usual thanks for that you pr*** sign.
I know that I was in the wrong but in those circumstances we were left with little choice unless we wished to follow them all the way to the Severn Bridge. The lorries behind me didn't have my pace so didn't risk it but that geezer still didn't take the hint and move back in.
I've been checking the post ever since to see if I was "spotted".
On the subject of trailers and caravans in the 3rd lane, Does anyone know what the situation is in France? Earlier I came across this thread in Caravan Talk :- http://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/t...ome-rules-regs/ and was particularly interested in this statement:-
If you are on a three lane autoroute or dual carriageway an outfit weighing 3,500kg or more must not use the leftmost (fast) lane, there is a minimum speed of 80kph which applies to the middle lane. The 80 kph minimum speed also applies to the leftmost (fast) lane on a two lane autoroute or dual carriageway.

only a few weeks ago coming back after my hols around Bath area, I passed a caravan on its side on the hard shoulder attached to car also leaning still attached so I could see all the underside. Motorway officers were on scene and paramedic, no other vehicles involved in impact and poor woman was standing with her dog on a lead. Couldn't stop to offer assistance as I was towing and had my three with me, but I did feel for her. And despite what can be seen, you never really know if they may have had to take evasive action from some idiot with a gripe about caravans and resulted in the tipping over. Also on the other hand I have seen maniacs driving on the third lane at 75mph approx with a big WWB. !

On Wednesday afternoon we went to Cribbs Causeway at Bristol as we approached the RAC tower going southbound, we saw a WWB towed by a blue 4 x 4 on the hard shoulder going East but on the M5 / M4 slip towards Cardiff / London he was facing the wrong way!!!! Traffic were in attendance as were the Highway guys. It was and had been raining heavily but what caused it to happen I have no idea.
Ribski saw one of these earlier in this thread, I guess the weight of the 4 x 4 saved it going over???

We've been away for a while in Scotland dry weather, no mossies, very few people
Sometimes we had wifi but often not so it was easier to just go "cold eriba"
We will still be about on here but much less frequent than before, my sincere best wishes to everyone of course
