540's come as standard with a big lounge table that clips on the rear panel of the van, under the back window and have a single folding leg to support the other end. The lounge benches can be used either as 2ft wide singles or a full double.
The multi function lounge is a cost option and has a standalone table with two folding legs, each with a pair of feet. It can be used anywhere you like. There's a central cabinet at the back of the van and the benches slide out to meet in the middle. Each bench can be used as a 2ft wide bed or 2ft 6ins wide, or a full double.
In the past I used a 2ft bed and Mrs SDA liked a 2ft 6ins, which left a 6ins larger gangway than if we'd both used 2ft 6ins. Over the years Hymer stored the big table in different places, pre 2004 it was vertically up against the rearmost outside wall of the wardrobe, 2005 'til 2009 (?) It was in a cradle under the offside lounge bench and post 2010 it was secured on top of the same bench. The table is beautifully engineered, which means heavy and bulky but has the advantage of greater utility when compared to its lighter, single legged cousin.
As to water, basic spec for Eriba Tourings is cold water only in kitchen and washroom. On a new van fitting a hot water system only costs £250 as a cost option but I was recently quoted £770 by AL for a retro fit. It means fitting a Truma Therme boiler, wiring it in, plumbing in cold water supply to it and hot water supply from it to the kitchen and washroom and removing cold only taps and fitting hot/cold taps. Having had a cold only '01 540 we swore never again when we swapped to an '05 with a boiler. Other types of boiler are available including a more expensive gas/electric one.

You will find that pictures on the arriving soon area are generic photos Dom has of previous vans.

Ah! Is that what he does, you'd think he'd put a note on the page to say that.

I thought the pics you posted looked like Dom's.
Funnily enough we holidayed in North Walsham in 2012 in our '05 540 and didn't realise Dom was in the area. It's a long way to go, nearly 10 hours and 500 miles for the round trip.

Thank you Andy and Ricky and all for the advice etc. Dom does seem like the man to go to. It's a good 3hr trip for us though. Still if he has the goods then it's worth it.
Another quick question from a newbie.....Why do some trolls have the front handles in a different place from others??

I can't say I've noticed the grab handles being in different places. Different designs as time went by yes, but not different places.
Or are we talking about the gas locker locking handles, which I think might have changed position slightly?

And again here on two different vans :-Handles in unusual place on 2007 Troll 540 GT
Certainly unusual though.

If we're talking the grab handles as shown on Roger's post, they're very rarely see in that position and if the windows fit on the frame members the handles can't be bolted/screwed to the frame at all, which would worry me if they were ever needed for positioning use.
