Poptop blind

On another thread Rod mentioned a blind for the poptop which got me thinking about making one, all I wanted one for is to reduce the morning rays so that I wake up later than 4am. Hopefully it should also stop our Dog Billy deciding that it is time to go for a walk in my pyjamas.
I'm not sure how it will fare but my first attempt will be used in a few weeks time. It is made from three window screen frost covers costing about £14.00

Very nice PT320, if a little 'Strictly', just don't get a short circuit or a bright light inside the van.

I love it when someone makes something useful, really good.
Did you hinge section or two for ventilation, cooking etc.
Now for the 12v 120mm extractor fan run off the light sockets!

I didn't hinge it Rod as its only for night time, but I have some let over so maybe a small flap may be a good idea for those hot summer nights

I know how a Turkey feels now I found that one layer of material was too flimsy so I had to double it up hence the glitter ball in my roof

I have been away for eight nights and trialled the pop top blind, it works a treat, it blocks out the early morning rays and has an extra added benefit that it slightly muffles the outside noise. The blind just push fits into place on the Familia 320 and the retaining catches and the toilet area helps to keeps it all in place. A short piece of Pipe insulation could be used vertically if need be if you have a bigger van to keep the blind in place. The air flow was unchanged and there was no condensation on the windows.
Another little tip is a piece of pipe insulation on the bottom of the window blind nearest your head, it also stops the light getting through.

Doesn't he have his own pyjamas?

Judging by a recent photo John posted Rod, it would seem not. He's got his own hat though.

You could always opt for a cheaper, simpler solution to the problem like this but getting one to stay on the dog all night could be a problem.

We have tried the eye blinds but it's like waking up with Dick Turpin...

This chap (chapess?) from the Netherlands seems to have come up with a rather nice idea for winter camping. Thanks to Kor Ando for allowing us to use the photo.

Does it replace the mosquito nets, Roger? If so, it would attach to the roof by Velcro.

Do your mosquito nets go all the way round? Ours are triangles of mesh held in with Velcro.

Maybe yours has got the Tropical Pack as well as the Marty Feldman sidelights.
