Did you check the size of the spare Nev?

There must be many Triton owners on here with circa 2006 vans. As you said in your opening post, it would be useful to compare the sizes with others.

I did try but its tilted back to let the rain run off easier, I will have to raise the steadies and lower the jockey wheel later when the ground dries out a bit.

I managed to get the spare out of the carrier (and what a bloody game that is)

So now I'm totally lost

Main tyres are 165 R13 91/89R ................load 580Kg speed 106Mph

Spare tyre is 185/70 R13 86T ...................load 530Kg speed 118 Mph

So is 165 R13 even the same size as 185/70 R13 ???????????????

Confused fed up peed off Now what?

Agreed regarding the spare wheel cradle, Nev. A bloody awful job indeed. Imagine what it would be like at night, in a downpour on a country road or at the side of a motorway. It makes me shudder.

Same diameter, different section. You need all three tyres to be the same size. As it stands the spare has a different rolling radius to the two on the axle.

If I were you I'd replace all three with 165R13C with a load rating between 88 and 94 and a minimum speed rating of P.

There'll be loads like that.

When in doubt read the manual Which incidentally is all in Dutch (the perils of running an import)

Anyway it seems the spare is indeed original and the book quotes

For Triton 430 1000 Kg axle 185/70 R13
For Triton 430 1200 Kg axle 195/70 R14

For Triton 430 1000 Kg axle 185/70 R13.

So the same size as our 1000kg Troll.

Or 185/70 R13 with min load rating 88 and min speed rating N which ever my tyre place can get. And all 3 must be the same.

Thanks for the help guys

Here. Just the ticket.

Most 185/70 R13 car tyres have a load rating of 86. Despite what Roger's table says, I think that's a bit marginal. Van tyres are a bit stronger. I reckon 90 would be ideal.

National tyres have a BOGOF offer on Barum tyres at the moment so it might be worth giving them a call, just in case . Here

Late to the party but my 2001 Troll Dutch import is also fitted with 165 R 13 C 95/92, which date from 2007. The van is away in storage so cant pop out to look at the spare which I recall is an original supplied with the van. Like Hob, I'm in the market for new tyres at the moment and have been confused by the selection available that match that size. There are a range at different prices and I have no idea what to base any judgement on. After all, all they do is go round and round, cover, in reality, very few miles before they 'age out' so is there any reason to buy anything other than a budget tyre?

I'd be interested in any real experiences of that...

My reasoning is I buy the best quality I can afford, my biggest concern is to get not only the size but the load rating (how much weight each tyre can legally support) and to a lesser extent the speed rating (UK speed limit 60Mph abroad to 80Mph)

And all 3 the same.

Still not got any yet
