As it so happens, we needed to phone our insurance companies today to check out where exactly we are covered for and it's b*gg*** muddle.
Rightly or wrongly, our car is insured with a different company to our Eriba and each has a different start/finish date.
The Car:- It's insured for towing and driving in Europe. It's covered for all the EU countries including Romania and Bulgaria. It is also covered for Western Turkey and Albania. The Eriba, when on the back, is also covered for third party claims as well. Whatever the result of Brexit, we need a Green card for Albania so they will issue us one in February when we renew our policy.
The Eriba:- We changed to Saga last year after the good reports from others. However, they WILL NOT cover us for Albania. The other countries are OK but in passing the advisor also mentioned that Saga don't cover Morocco and we know that some folk have visited there when, presumably they thought they were covered by Saga.
Red Pennant:- Red Pennant will cover us for all the countries mentioned above including repatriation. Therefore presumably, Red Pennant would repatriate the Eriba in the case of an accident in Albania (if our car insurance refuses to do so).
So, unless we change our Eriba Insurance (we can't take out a one month policy with another insurer because it's illegal to cover the same thing twice), she will not be covered for damage or theft by others while in Albania.
I don't know why Saga pick on Albania or Morocco for that matter, especially when the best ferry service across the Adriatic is between Bari (Italy) and Durres (Albania) and is a gateway to Greece.

ps. Regarding travelling in the EU, if the UK leaves Europe with a No Deal on 29/03/19 then contact your insurance immediately and they will organise one by return. They will not issue one before hand (unless presumably you tell them you're going to Albania ). They couldn't answer the obvious question, "what happens if we leave for Europe on the 28/03/19?"

Well that link is as clear as mud. We should be ok according to the Dept of Transport but we should also check with our insurance companies. We MAY need one or two International Driving Licences or not. Should be ok, may not be. Best be prepared, prepared for WHAT exactly?

Well that's interesting and we both asked them as we couldn't believe it. The guy also went away to double check about Albania and he volunteered the information about Morocco.

I’m just going for it, got a (very) cheap early easter flight to Spain by Flybe 2 days after B day (so may have a double whammy there😱) and have booked to take the Triton to France and Spain in july and August by Brittany Ferries!

And on a serious note, will I still be allowed to bring my usual small French red wine lake back with me this summer?
Colin
If we not in EU then it will be duty free ? but maybe limited in quantity allowed ? Fit a false bottom in Eriba !!!
