some folk use cardboard in windows to stop sun action on seats, also saves the blind springs, needing tweeking.
but cardboard may require a vent hole so not too much heat builds up between window and cardboard..
not heard of using for cleaning

I'm an old soldier and we used to polish our brasses with brasso on cardboard, gives a real shine and smooth finish, I have 1 "nasty" scratch, the others are just "crazing" so may not need the cardboard solution, I will be doing it today, so I'll put photo's up later

Just a bit more information on removing scratches from your windows

I did ours this morning in 20 minutes! Really easy to do and looks great, I'd say it's the simplest thing to do and looks great.

I used a small microfibre padded cloth (pink one in the above post) a duster, and brasso.

I made sure the windows were clean by wiping with a damp cloth (I had cleaned the Eriba yesterday, but you need to make sure the windows are clean before you start!)

I started at the front and worked my way around, I applied a good quantity of Brasso to the cloth and just gave the windows a good rub! Wanting to make sure I'd covered all area's I applied the technique I use when polishing / waxing. That is to start with small circular swirls, then a vertical wipe followed by a horizontal wipe, so you should cover each part 3 x

I did'nt let it dry but wiped off the residue straightaway, in some places I came across some "greasy" looking deposits I simply wiped with the Brasso impregnated cloth again and then polished it straight off. (I think this could be waxy deposits, but I'm not sure, so would welcome feedback from others if you try it)

I tried to take photo's but this was really difficult due to the bright sunshine.

You can see the difference with the naked eye, and it is really surprising, I used about an 8th of a tin of Brasso, well chuffed

Well, it's been 5 or 6 days since you used Brasso to clean your windows Agger. Are they still in one piece or have they melted away?
Where did you get the idea of using Brasso from?
All things being equal we'll be having a go at ours in the next day or so.

My guess is that he picked up the idea from an ex sailor as we used to get through gallons of the stuff in the Navy with the general rule being - 'if it doesn't move then polish it, and when you're through with that, start polishing the things that do move'.

As new recruits we used to scrub our blue collars with Brasso, (that thing with the 3 white stripes on it and half hanging over your back lol) because it's bleach like properties worked wonders in bleaching out the dark blue colour making it ten shades lighter and therebye giving the appearance of it having been washing a few hundred times. The windows are absolutely fine!

I worked with a team of guys from the USA years ago and they were installing Makrolon (a type of polycarbonate) on our vehicles to make them more secure, this was in Belfast in the early 70's and no not Land Rovers.

They had tested extensively and the only products that were recommended were Brasso and something else I forgot the name of as soon as I was told it, as we had Brasso!

There are lots of different names for polycarbonate and acrylic type windows, but I did our old Burstner with Brasso so was confident, and in any case some people use lots of untested cleaners on windows!

Toothpaste works, but I prefer Brasso, very quick, shines superbly and I like the smell

Just added the 2 pictures, it's very difficult to show, but they are scratch free!

Just for clarification, I used the liquid Brasso (as shown in an earlier photo)

You probably won't believe me But when I renewed the Herzim strip last year, I left the tail shown in the photo as previously I had problems with the old white trim coming out in hot weather, I thought at the time and still do that it was stretched to tight, hence I left it uncut, rest assured it be be getting ghe snip as soon as I'm confident it won't shorten in the hot weather. Good spot though!

Correct.

As excuses go it's about as preposterous as it gets. Any fule kno that things get shorter when it's cold, not when it's hot
