Ours arrived a few days ago now so took approx 1 month following submission of the order. If the company car is being used privately then I would suggest requesting a copy in the form of a jpg image not bigger than 200kb or a pdf copy. If it's company business then let the company do the work.

If the CRIT 'Air certificate is only needed at present for Grenoble, Paris and Lyon - Villeurbanne, none of which I have any intention of visiting, why is it considered necessary?
Are members as I suspect getting the sticker 'just in case' while it is cheap and easy to obtain? I note that it lasts the life of the vehicle.
From the simulator on the website, my car comes out at Yellow 2 (Petrol, Euro 4) and the quoted cost is €4.80 so it is no hardship to obtain one.
I'm just curious as to why people are buying them.

We bought ours to match our German one
Seriously though, we have found the German one useful on a few occasions since purchasing it a few years ago and as we've driven through Grenoble and Lyon a few times as well as the outskirts of Paris once, we though we might as well get one 'just in case'.
I don't think either country has taken into consideration that a lot of UK cars have cherished number plates so the cars could well be changed every few years but the number plate doesn't.
Is there anywhere in Europe where the number plate follows the owner and not the car?

ps. You should really try Lyon. It's a fabulous city.

Once the idea gets around that there is money to be made with the issuing of these stickers other towns and cities will most probably jump on the bandwagon and will be requiring them. It's the City/Town Council who make the decision by all accounts and as it has already been announced that the scheme will be expanding in the future. In my opinion - and for the cost - it pays to be one jump ahead rather than having to periodically Google to keep on top of where and when this sticker is required.

Ah, but you're forgetting about the integrated chip buried within the sticker that contains the details of your particular vehicle - hence the requirement for sending a copy of the registration document. Change the make, colour, type of engine etc and hey presto - your nicked boy. All that said, I suppose the chances of having dozens of cherished number plates being parked on a particular street in Lyon at the same time would be quite slim. There again, with the current love affair with Johnny Foreigner plod might feel inclined to get his scanning device out and check the validity of the sticker.

Quote: Deeps wrote in post #69I agree with your reasoning, Deeps, and have already applied for mine. It was easy to do and 4.80 Euros is little to pay for peace of mind when navigating in foreign parts.

Although I don't intend to travel in any of the currently covered cities there is always the possibility of being detoured by road works or closures in the future so I thought it sensible to get one now.

If you're detoured do you really think there'll be gendarmes looking out for stickers? The whole of Europe pretty well travels through France. They're busy boys and have better things to do than annoy tourists. Don't panic. i don't know anyone who owns one or intends to.

I own one and as it is now in Lyon and is coming to Limoges it just makes life easier, unfortunately it is a bit like the breathalyser when people say "they have never been stopped, I do know of someone who was warned because he wears spectacles to drive and didnt have a spare pair in the car?.The numbers of English here who drive on UK plates and have never been stopped is amazing but for me to comply with the regulations just makes life a little simpler just like me. There are those who do and those who don't, nothing changes
